Sok Nuon

Sok Nuon, a 54-year-old individual, currently pursues agricultural endeavors as a farmer. Her indelible recollections of the Khmer Rouge era reveal the arduous hardships she endured, notably the stark scarcity of sustenance that compelled her to subsist on meager portions of porridge. At the tender age of 14-15, Sok Nuon was forcibly conscripted into the mobile unit brigade, a role that entailed grueling labor and relentless toil. The weight of her responsibilities exacted a toll on her physical and mental well-being, exacerbated by the cruel reality of persistent hunger and the distressing separation from her beloved family. Originating from the province of Takeo, Sok Nuon made the consequential decision to relocate to Bak Nim village approximately a decade ago. This pivotal move to a new locale marked a significant chapter in her life, affording her opportunities for a fresh start and a chance to rebuild amidst the tranquil embrace of a supportive community. In her role as a farmer, Sok Nuon now channels her resilience and hard work towards cultivating the land, reaping the fruits of her labor, and forging a brighter future for herself and her loved ones.
