Chea Kalen

Chea Kalen, male, 69 years old, and currently in pension. He wants the story of the Khmer Rouge survivor to be kept safe and taught to the younger generation. During the Khmer Rouge, Angkar would keep only the poor and uneducated people so that they couldn’t protest or fight back. “The reason why they would kill our parents and anyone who fights back was to show power. Back then, we would also be separated from our families and friends because they didn’t want her to form a coup. I lost a lot of friends and family members, it was very saddening that I cannot do anything about it,” he said.
