Noch Moch, aged 82, currently fulfills the role of caregiver for her grandchildren. She told us about how she experienced a near-death encounter in the Khmer Rouge regime, but fortunately, she survived. Despite not receiving formal education, Noch Moch was tasked with various responsibilities, including the preparation of fertilizers, planting of crops, and other minor duties. Tragically, she lost two siblings who were forcibly taken by the Khmer Rouge for “educational purposes.” To this day, their fate remains unknown. Noch Moch endured significant hardships during this time, being subjected to overwork and struggling to meet her basic survival needs.
