Chhuon Chhanthorn

Chhuon Chhanthorn, aged 54, is currently engaged in farming. When the Khmer Rouge uprising unfolded, she was still a young child, but she vaguely recollects her family’s attempts to evade the soldiers by constantly moving from one village to another out of fear. Fleeing was their only strategy, and they endeavored to put as much distance between themselves and the danger as possible. Chhanthorn completed her education until the sixth grade but was compelled to discontinue her studies due to her family’s financial hardships. Her memories of the Khmer Rouge period are limited as she was an innocent and unaware child at that time.
