It was a chilly morning in the village of Mlech, and the sun was above our heads. We arrived to do an interview with Khlot Toeun, who is 73 years old. She told us that during the Khmer Rouge period, she saw soldiers wandering on the streets. One day she was evacuated to Kriel village, Kriel subdistrict, Kan-Chreach district, Prey Veng province to dig canals. The next day, after arriving to Kriel village, she sneaked back home and went into hiding. For years until the war was over, she started coming to Mlech to farm. She eventually made a life for herself at Mlech.
