Kong Ly

Kong Ly, aged 59, presently works as a farmer. In the era of the Khmer Rouge, she was assigned the responsibility of caring for young children, preventing her from completing her education. Being among the base people, she had sufficient food and enjoyed a comfortable existence. Nonetheless, she empathized with the new arrivals from Phnom Penh, who suffered severe torture. Numerous relatives fell victim to the regime as they were rounded up and executed. She managed to escape from the Khmer Rouge to Tram Kak and later returned to her village after liberation. In 1994, she married her husband and subsequently raised four children.
