Kun Rim

We came across a crumbling and dilapidated house with a faded red roof and cracked walls and with curiosity my team approached the old man sitting on a floor watching the open field. We introduced ourselves as DC-Cam’s volunteers interested in learning about his life during the Khmer Rouge and his current state. The old man, who introduced himself as Kun Rim, 63 years old. He didn’t remember much of those days besides the traumatizing events of overworking such as, cutting down the chromolaena odorata, watching cows and fields, digging and building dams. It was so exhausting for him. He described those times as the days his depression was born. We shook our heads with understanding and empathy and ended the interview with silent comfort.
