Laem Ra, aged 42, currently serves as a soldier. Born in 1981, he did not undergo the Khmer Rouge regime. Coming from a financially disadvantaged family, he was compelled to join the military. Laem Ra risked his life for his country, participating in various wars such as the conflicts in Preah Vihear and Koh Kong in 2002. His formal education ended at grade 8 in 1999 when he began assisting his family with their work. He tragically lost his mother during the Khmer Rouge regime.
