Men Dam

Men Dam, aged 52, is currently a farmer. During the Khmer Rouge regime, he was a young child living with his family. While he did not witness soldiers killing civilians, he was tasked with cutting down trees and leaves. Regrettably, he lost one of his older brothers, who was captured by soldiers and never seen again. Men Dam recalls observing individuals being bound together and taken away, but he remains uncertain of their ultimate fate. Despite being part of the children’s unit and remaining with his family, he suffered from insufficient food supply, receiving more porridge than rice. Despite his young age, he was subjected to excessive labor demands.
