Phan Horn

We drove along the road and spotted a woman in a grey shirt and a long skirt, sitting on the concrete floor with a smile on her face. She had her hands on her lap and looked at us with a friendly expression. Behind her was a door and next to her was a pile of junk, including a big black tire with a red rim. Her face was giving off a warmth invitation that we decided to stop by and greet. Her name is Phan Horn, 63 years old, a farmer living in Bak Nim village, Kampot province. During the Khmer Rouge, it was tough for her because she was always getting sick and having to keep evacuating to places. She never got to see her parents for so long and only wishes to forget those memories. We then ended our interview and she smiled and thanked us for our visit. She said she felt a little better after talking to us and hoped that one day there would be peace and reconciliation in Cambodia.
